Nov 2018: The Joint Commission of the Mauritius-Seychelles Extended Continental Shelf, Mascarene Plateau has created a joint management area (JMA) for exploration covering an area of 400,000 sq kms in water depths from 150-4,000m. Wells only reached the top of a volcanic layer during exploration in the 1970s. The Commission has delineated 49 blocks and new seismic data will be acquired ahead of block nominations.
