The Northern American Region (North America) has the smallest number of countries and territories (just 5) of the 6 regions defined here but is nonetheless very important as a supplier and user of oil and gas.

The USA and Canada have long, varied oil and gas production histories. Of course the USA is an important consumer of both oil and gas and has become a growing producer once again with the advent of its light tight oil (LTO) sources.
