Sep 2025: MOL (49%) and O&GD (operator, 51%) discovered oil in the Galgahévíz-4 well in the Mogyorod concession area. The new field can produce 1,000 bbls of oil per day which will be processed at the Danube Refinery in Százhalombatta. The 1st exploration oil well in the Mogyorod concession, Tura-D-3, was completed in 2023.
Mar 2025: MOL Hungarian Oil and Gas discovered a new oil field near Somogysámson in the western Transdanubian region. The Somogysámson-8 well was spudded in Nov 2024 and was completed in 33 days. The last oil to be discovered in this region was over a decade ago. The well tested 1,200 bbls of oil per day and is being trucked to the Danube Refinery.

Dec 2016: The 4th, 2016 Bid Round offered 9 blocks for exploration but only 6 received 11 bids from 3 companies, all of whom participated in previous rounds. MOL is the only successful bidder. It has 60 days to negotiate concession agreements with the Ministry of National Development. A 5th Round is due in 2017.

Apr 2015: DualEx Energy announced that gas production from the Penészlek field in the northeast has ceased due to natural depletion of the two remaining wells. The PEN 101 and PEN105 wells will be abandoned and associated facilities decommissioned.
