Jan 2013: Eni has pulled out of Mali, handing back licenses before the outbreak of fighting in which France intervened to block an advance by rebel fighters. Eni acquired 5 exploration licenses in 2006 (Blocks 1, 2, 3, 4 & 9) in the Taoudeni Basin, obtaining 50% and operatorship from Baraka Petroleum and Baraka Mali Ventures (originally 75% and 25% respectively). Sonatrach acquired 25%.
